This page provides answers to common questions parents have about Camp St. Joseph. Select any question below to reveal details about registration, daily life at camp, worship, supervision, and care.
When does camp take place?
Camp Saint Joseph will be held from Monday, August 10 through Sunday, August 16, 2026.
What ages are eligible for summer camp?
Camp is open to campers ages 9–17. Young adults 18 and older are invited to apply to serve as camp staff.
Where is camp located?
Camp St. Joseph is hosted at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac, located at 6 Hawthorne Rd, Lenox, MA 01240. We rent the facility exclusively for the week, so no correspondence should be sent directly to Camp Mah-Kee-Nac.
Camp Mah-Kee-Nac is accredited by the American Camp Association, and our session takes place the week immediately following the conclusion of their own program.
What should my camper pack?
A complete packing list is included in the Camper Parent Handbook, which we are currently updating for 2026. We’ll share this as soon as it’s available.
What is a typical day at camp like?
Each day is filled with activities from morning through evening. Wake-up is around 7:00 a.m. After getting ready and cleaning cabins, campers gather as a community to begin the day in prayer. Activities, meals, worship, recreation, and evening programs fill the rest of the day.
What church services are held at camp?
We typically celebrate Matins in the morning and Vespers in the evening. On select days, we also serve the Paraklesis to the Theotokos. On August 14, we will celebrate the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
Where do campers stay?
Campers are assigned to cabins based on age and gender. Cabinmate requests are not accepted. Each cabin houses approximately 10–15 campers and includes a private bathroom. Some cabins have in-cabin showers, while others use a nearby shower house with private shower stalls.
Who supervises the campers?
Campers are grouped into cabin units of 7–10 campers of the same age and gender. Each group is supervised by 1–2 trained counselors, typically college-aged staff. Many counselors have prior experience at the Antiochian Village or other Orthodox summer camps and participate in our required staff training.
Is medical staff available on site?
Yes. A licensed medical professional is on site for the entire week. All campers must complete a health history form during registration. Medications must be turned in at check-in and will be administered by medical staff according to physician instructions on the original prescription container. Basic first aid and medical care are available as needed.
Can I contact or visit my child during camp?
Due to the short duration of camp (7 days) and our full daily schedule, we do not allow visitors or phone calls home during the session. Campers should leave all electronics (including phones and smartwatches) at home; any brought to camp will be collected at check-in.
Photos will be shared daily on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) and SmugMug so families can follow along. If a medical or serious issue arises, parents will be contacted directly. Otherwise, no news is good news!
What is the check-in and check-out schedule?
Check-in will take place Monday morning, August 10, and check-out will be Sunday morning, August 16. Exact times and details will be shared closer to camp.
Are scholarships available?
Families in need of financial assistance are encouraged to speak with their parish priest about possible parish support. A limited number of scholarships are also available through the Diocese Council. Please refer to the Financial Aid Request Form.
How do I register my camper?
Registration is completed online through our camp registration system. We use the same software as other Archdiocese camps, including Antiochian Village. If your child has attended another Antiochian camp, you already have an account—please use the same email address and password to log in.
